Twelve clips, because you always need more than you think

Anyone who has cut, coloured or blow-dried their own hair knows the moment: you have sectioned the hair into five clips, and you need a sixth to hold the section you are actually working on. What sectioning clips are for

Sectioning is what separates a decent result from a messy one. Work in controlled sections and you can see what you are doing, keep the lengths even, and avoid catching hair you did not mean to cut or colour. These clips hold a section flat and out of the way while both your hands are free for the scissors, the comb or the brush.

Why plastic is the right material here

They are moulded in plastic rather than metal for a reason: metal clips grip hard enough to leave a crease in the hair, and they rust. These hold firmly without leaving a dent, and each one weighs about 10 g — light enough that a dozen of them in the hair is not a burden on the scalp. At 113 mm long and 15 mm wide they hold a proper section rather than a token pinch.
